Shogun gets 18 Emmys! Emmy Winners 2024

The 76th annual Emmy Awards, held on Sunday night at the LA Live Peacock Theatre, saw FX’s epic drama “Shogun” take home a record-breaking 18 awards. The series, already a Creative Arts Emmy winner with 14 trophies, extended its record-breaking run by winning Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor for Hiroyuki Sanada, Actress for Anna Sawai and Directing for Frederick E.O. Toye.

While “Shogun” dominated, “The Bear” continued its impressive run, adding 11 more Emmys to its haul, bringing its total to 21 for the past two seasons. Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach both repeated their victories in the lead actor and supporting actor categories for the comedy series, while co-star Abby Elliott Colón-Zayas won her first Emmy in the supporting actress category.

The night was filled with heartwarming reunions and tributes, honoring the legacies of some of television’s most beloved shows. The cast of “The West Wing” celebrated the show’s 25th anniversary, while “Saturday Night Live” celebrated its 50th season with a performance from Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Seth Meyers and Bowen Yang, who took the opportunity to roast Lorne Michaels’ 85 Emmy losses. “Happy Days” also celebrated its 50th anniversary with a recreation of its iconic set featuring Henry Winkler and Ron Howard.

The famous voice actor James Earl Jones, who lent his voice to iconic character Darth Vader in Star Wars saga for many years, passed away.

The show also featured numerous pairings of famous TV dads, moms, villains, and doctors, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere.
